Many native Baltimoreans--especially city dwellers-- grew up being told that sitting on our steps was ghetto and that the look of such brings the neighborhood.... I guess Baltimore is trying to claim it now and change it's "sitting on the stoop" perception?

Christian messages times two

It seems that Christian Biblical messages are not as rare as previously thought. In my last post, I spotted an informal and playful 'Jesus Loves You' tshirt. Today's message is much more blunt, direct, and formal. The warm nature of the tshirt reflects the kindness and understanding type of the love it speaks about to gently meet the needs of any looking for love. The 'Shall Not Kill' message is delivered in a serious straight to the point tone to speak the language of hardened individuals considering malicious acts. This is the second time I have see this particular campaign. Today I found it as soon as I steped out of the Owings Mills Subway tunnel. I look forward to discovering more spiritual messages like these.

Jesus in retail

Wow, this was unexpected. Forever 21, a major retail chain, is selling a shirt that reads "Jesus loves (heart) you" in the front of their store! This may read taboo to some, religiously selective to others, and uplifiting to some. Me, I find it refreshing that faith, whatever that faith may be, is being aloud to live and breathe again in every day life :)

Update: Cover the Earth??

The emotionally sparked phone photo from inside my car was not very clear. Above is a clearer image from a fellow confused driver. His flickr post confirms the worst, SWP--the visual message has gone rambo.

Cover the Earth??

Guess I'm a hard core Graphic Designer cause this image bugs me! A huge can of red paint drenching mother earth is NOT a good look for a paint company! Was this image made before eco-friendly mindsets became popular, or are they really that brass? And for crying out loud, of all the colors they choose to throw on something, they choose red-- the same color thrown on fur coat wearers by animal-lovers. Ok SWP, so you want to protect animals, but ur no tree huggers. U just prefer to 'cover the earth' with ur bright red paint, that way u don't miss any fur coat wearers, all while protect animals. SWP, I hate to break it to ya, but I think your image's visual communication is saying more than u intended...smh

smh mindless photography

Photos carry strong messages; hense the phrase 'a picture is worth a thousand words.' Whoever took and posted this photo around baltimore must have no imagination at all. Yes, denotativly speaking it is a photo of a canon and a the Baltimore Trade Center. But conotativly speaking, there is a canon pointing threateningly at the Baltimore Trade Center creating tension. Smh...(shake my head)....regardless of pre or post 9-11, this photo sends an initial message that is concerning.
