Many native Baltimoreans--especially city dwellers-- grew up being told that sitting on our steps was ghetto and that the look of such brings the neighborhood.... I guess Baltimore is trying to claim it now and change it's "sitting on the stoop" perception? Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05122189407873629169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8183540482279279334.post-37063801435715253292011-09-13T16:09:00.001-07:002011-09-13T16:09:59.324-07:00Christian messages times twoIt seems that Christian Biblical messages are not as rare as previously thought. In my last post, I spotted an informal and playful 'Jesus Loves You' tshirt. Today's message is much more blunt, direct, and formal. The warm nature of the tshirt reflects the kindness and understanding type of the love it speaks about to gently meet the needs of any looking for love. The 'Shall Not Kill' message is delivered in a serious straight to the point tone to speak the language of hardened individuals considering malicious acts. This is the second time I have see this particular campaign. Today I found it as soon as I steped out of the Owings Mills Subway tunnel. I look forward to discovering more spiritual messages like these.
Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.5
Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05122189407873629169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8183540482279279334.post-2806280281621698862011-08-02T10:50:00.001-07:002011-08-02T10:50:03.415-07:00Jesus in retail

Wow, this was unexpected. Forever 21, a major retail chain, is selling a shirt that reads "Jesus loves (heart) you" in the front of their store! This may read taboo to some, religiously selective to others, and uplifiting to some. Me, I find it refreshing that faith, whatever that faith may be, is being aloud to live and breathe again in every day life :)
Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.5
Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05122189407873629169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8183540482279279334.post-53128925624790541972011-07-16T09:42:00.001-07:002011-07-16T09:42:55.615-07:00http://www.visine.com/product-visine-summer-spectrum-relief
Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.5
Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05122189407873629169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8183540482279279334.post-7352857062620189062011-07-07T10:00:00.000-07:002011-07-07T10:09:14.042-07:00Update: Cover the Earth??<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7_nBb7a0uG5ox6vdmhjA8NuF3HacJmgwYDvy37Ke7UpiUKR85ODSliAB3pijCoJ7hrTyx7QTTKdICJfeY7PisBdyTgDHvN0CM-sU7RGrorsz_MOo6yi4mKvMdNDqhZy4dMNKneHJuGeke/s400/2863755624_76b66236bb.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626658519639601506" />

The emotionally sparked phone photo from inside my car was not very clear. A huge can of red paint drenching mother earth is NOT a good look for a paint company! Was this image made before eco-friendly mindsets became popular, or are they really that brass? And for crying out loud, of all the colors they choose to throw on something, they choose red-- the same color thrown on fur coat wearers by animal-lovers. Ok SWP, so you want to protect animals, but ur no tree huggers. U just prefer to 'cover the earth' with ur bright red paint, that way u don't miss any fur coat wearers, all while protect animals. SWP, I hate to break it to ya, but I think your image's visual communication is saying more than u intended...smhAndreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05122189407873629169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8183540482279279334.post-84191967426736227462011-03-11T06:10:00.001-08:002011-03-11T06:10:11.764-08:00smh mindless photography

Photos carry strong messages; hense the phrase 'a picture is worth a thousand words.' Whoever took and posted this photo around baltimore must have no imagination at all. Yes, denotativly speaking it is a photo of a canon and a the Baltimore Trade Center. I highly respect and am inspired by the real seen on television and on before movies in the theater. At first I found this parody to be in good fun by using the same flashback narrative style to mimic the real army commercials. But as The parody continued, the level of disrespect to the men and women who sacrifice their lives for this country became disturbing. The creator of this video, while a skilled videographer and editer, used the power of visual communication in a direction that breached that fine line between humor and disrespect. While I would assume that the intention was to disrespect, it is easily possible for this video to to be just that.Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05122189407873629169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8183540482279279334.post-39766818107793517672010-12-04T10:40:00.000-08:002010-12-17T10:48:43.832-08:00Amateur special effects for humorA few coworkers of mine were laughing at something online at work. If an information graphic does not need to give specific information, then I would qualify this as an infographic. This image translates the expanse of facebook better than a never-ending list of countries or a number count into the billions. As art, this infographic is beautiful as is. However as an infographic alone, I would like to see some figures and facts, if nothing more than for assurance that this image is reflecting real data.

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.5
Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05122189407873629169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8183540482279279334.post-13913041282259230642010-12-04T06:37:00.001-08:002010-12-17T08:46:43.544-08:00google dont be evil

This is a very intriguing video about the Google takeover.

This is a classic case of an irrisponsible use of visual communication to promote ideas and create trust that is as a thin eggshell cover-up to the deeper truth.

Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05122189407873629169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8183540482279279334.post-53701150382713986542010-11-19T12:24:00.000-08:002010-11-19T12:37:20.039-08:00Awesome graphic<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR6pDvZ32AUyn5uHgEVY-_Ixi-45vHRkqEAo-lRsqTlcrusJaekAcyQBsUHefseoUpGolMAB8mxVtqSNoySh8NdP9-9sO_V6otag3Isql0eQeAAxmEcdGIEh98-hc15XOoVJlN0F7-RIZq/s400/img_3235.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5541361823361969154" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 250px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOFdfpG55iUjDPut-lAraeaoMC0dKyNh8ZlqXKm2vjJ0MFqciKAs2n0M6dQq5BHyZuQfnpN6PXoUaxA3Xfk7SEnMY8lnc01qd0QBwbVKLAEwTxQkfSJGQrZq1ogTfA_CeIc6mWmZzMVT2m/s400/dataflow_page.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5541361720629634418" />

This info graphic displays the similarities and differences in religions. It's a clearer example of showing connections through hundreds lines. Like the example in the previous post, it still has a lot of lines that are difficult to follow. But in this information graphic, the words create a baseline and resting place for the eye. With the general understanding that all these things are connected, we can then begin looking into how. The initial image is striking to attract the viewer. Once they are attracted, the words and connections feed their growing curiosity with deeper information. I find the execution be be a sculptural approach. The designer applied the detailed texture of lemons to the container. No other colors were applied to the package in order to maintain the integrity of the lemony yellow bunch. Relief sculpture techniques were used to apply the name of the product to the container. These lemons tell a simple story: "I am as fresh as any other lemon. I carry more juice than your regular lemon. And, it's easier to squeeze juice out of me."

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.5
Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05122189407873629169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8183540482279279334.post-32995790796640423352010-11-10T10:13:00.000-08:002010-12-17T10:23:00.587-08:00package design 5 of 6

Sculpting this bottle into the detailed linen threads that it promises to wash linens safely attracts the viewer. When using Trompe L'oeil, a method of creativity I studied in the "Smile in the Mind" book, it is important to 'go all the way' to make the image look as close to the object referenced. In this case, real fabric, or at list a cloth-like fiber material for the surface of the bottles, would have made this concept complete.
Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.5
Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05122189407873629169noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8183540482279279334.post-66434586205435243202010-11-10T10:07:00.000-08:002010-12-17T10:21:40.416-08:00package design 4

These cans transcend the 2D label to give a visual of the tasty goods within.
